WELL THAT WAS FUN

So the C's were definitely looking ahead to this game. That certainly explains their debacle Friday against the Suns. But I'm glad they did.

This game was perfect. It illustrated perfectly the difference between us and the Lakers. Our even, distributed, offensive attack against Kobe. One versus five. You could almost feel this one coming. You could sense that Kobe wanted to prove he could dominate us all by himself. He got his 41, but it was at the expense of his team. It's the same old Kobe. He gets it going, everyone else stands around and watches. He took almost every shot the last 7 minutes of the game, besides a Gasol tip-in off a Kobe miss. When the game is on the line the Celtics run a play, find the most effective option, and go to him. In the same situation Kobe tries to be a hero.

Paul Pierce had it going on throughout the first 3 quarters of this one. That's why Rondo only had 1 assist in the first half. He saw that Paul was more effective at the time. But the second half was all Rondo's. He orchestrated flawlessly. It seemed like he created a semi fast break off of every defensive rebound, racing out in front of the Lakers and then finding KG who out ran the Lakers bigs, or he would swing it out to Paul or Ray for a three. 15 assists in the second half. He was in complete control. He also took advantage when Kobe switched over to cover Paul, blowing past Steve Blake a few times for easy lay-ins.

Right when we first traded for Kevin Garnett these were the kind of games that I dreamed about. How we would be completely impossible to shut down. Paul Pierce would get his, Ray would be dropping dagger threes, KG would be controlling the post on both ends. That's exactly what we got in this game. The Big 3 combined for 71 points. Yikes. Even though you really can't call them the Big 3 anymore with Rondo being the MVP. But if they keep up this level of play we could be calling them NBA champions once again when it's all said and done.
