Tim Tebows not ready

I love Tim Tebow. I really do. I have a ton of respect for everything he's done and he's the best college football player of all time in my book. That doesn't mean his game can translate into the NFL. Some people, Merril Hoge in particular, don't believe he'll ever find success at the professional level. I disagree with Mr. Hoge but right now Tim's not even close. I think the best case scenario for him is that he becomes some sort of lefty poor mans Ben Roethlisberger.

"You know you have these guys that are in college, that, yeah they have the ability to stand back there in the pocket and throw it to this guy thats open by 10 yards. Ok do they have the same ability to stand back in that pocket when a guy is hitting them and throw it to a guy thats open by 1 yard. Can you do it when the speeds faster? Can you do it when you're getting hit by somebody bigger than you? Can you do it when the defense you're seeing is more complex? Nobody knows it till they actually get there." - Kurt Warner in an interview for the Brady 6

Right now Tebow can't do it. He struggles reading defenses, identifying blitzes etc. His throws aren't all that accurate either. It's almost like he literally needs a five count to stand there in the pocket, figuring out what he should do with the ball. If he does get that much time, he's very capable of making something happen. But that much time is a rarity. More often than not you're going to feel some pressure. And unlike in college, Tim isn't going to be the best athlete on the field anymore. He won't always be able to beat that guy around the edge or run right through a linebacker. The pro game is faster, more physical, and just tougher.

Again I think he can improve. He works too hard not to. But he needs time. He needs to be groomed the way Josh McDaniels would have groomed him. Because right now he looks completely overmatched.
