Ray for Monta? Tempting.

This old rumor has started up again that the Celtics might ship Ray to Golden State for Monta. Any trade involving a member of the Big 3 makes me uncomfortable, but this one was hard for me to shake in 2010 and its just as hard now. As good as Ray is it became pretty evident that having three guys in the starting lineup capable of going out and getting thirty any given night is useful (I'm including Rondo in that. Yes he can do it). Would it work in terms of chemistry? Monta wouldn't have much choice but to fall in line with the Ubuntu way of doing things. But he would also have to understand and learn that he wouldn't have the ball in his hands as much as he did with the offense happy Warriors. KG wouldn't allow him to take breaks on defense so theres no need to worry about that.

But right now the reality is this is nothing more than a rumor, and a pretty vague one. It hasn't hit any of the major sports sites so theres not much to it right now. But theres almost never nothing to a trade rumor. Theres usually at least a little bit of truth. This same rumor seemed a bit silly when we first started hearing about it at the trade deadline last year, but then Danny Ainge said in an interview a few weeks later that it actually was a possibility.

Monta does want to be traded. Theres no doubt about that. And while I'd love to get my homeboy Steph Curry instead, the more I think about it the more I love the idea of Rondo and Ellis in the same backcourt together. I'm sorry, that would be just downright scary for opposing teams. You could argue those are two of the quickest guys in the NBA, and you wouldn't have trouble winning that argument. Will it happen? Almost definitely not. Would it be awesome? I'm gonna go play 2K11 and find out.
