Not the start we were hoping for

After all the preseason hype and hoopla the Sox went into Texas and met a hungry Rangers team that has proven they can mash with the best of them. We saw a lot of the claw this weekend as the Rangers blasted 11 home runs in the 3 game series.

We knew they were good, but still we thought we'd at least win the series. Getting swept in our first series of the season was the last thing on everyones mind. No one saw this is a possibility. We figured that even if our starting pitching was a little spotty our offense would be able to carry us and the bullpen would take it from there.

But these Texas Rangers were pretty much having their own home run derby. Ian Kinsler (my moms favorite player, because of his curly hair) is on pace to hit 162 this year.

This guy Matt Harrison pitched a great game today, theres no way around that. 8 strikeouts, and 5 hits scattered in his 7 innings. Rangers fans thought they needed Cliff Lee to be a serious threat this year but after seeing their top three starters I think they might be all set.

Tough game for the Sox that left me searching for positives. Gotta be honest there weren't too many of them. David Ortiz continued his early success going 2-4. That's great to see considering his brutal April's the last two seasons. Carl Crawford also went 2-4 and drove in our only run on the day, his first RBI as a member of the Red Sox.

So pretty much the Sox just need to start scoring more runs and not letting the other team get too many.
